1994 Marquee Prism Gold Parallel

The shimmer and sparkle of 1994 Marquee Prism. We have come along way with that Prism name, but nothing beats these.

I was able to add this Hampton to my collection with the help of Jammin JDcards in that epic mail day yesterday. Despite a lot of people thinking cards from the 90's are flooded and that they are easy to acquire, yes base cards may be, but not inserts. The gold parallels from 1994 Marquee Prism fell 2 per box which is not the easiest find for some players. But, luckily I chose this guy.

I like the fun "bubbly" design that pops even more in the gold parallel. The name/position plate at the bottom of the card have them appearing off a Broadway show.

Especially when the backs say, Now Appearing. I think Hampton made his presence known when he was on the field and appeared in the End Zone many times.

Extrodinary Hampton Loaded Mail Day!

Yesterday was a Rodney Hampton mail day explosion thanks to my buddy at Jammin JDcards. We both did a good size trade for 90's RB's as I sent him some Emmitt Smiths and in return I ended up adding these Hamptons which should all be new to the PC. There are roughly around 150 here.

The next step is to get these crossed off my WANT LIST which you can find at the top of the blog. I knew these were coming, I just didn't know which ones and how many to expect. I will make note of the added changes to the want list after.

The final thing will be to get some pictures of the cards going on here which I hope to do in the next few days. Like I said, all cards will be posted front and back and I will most likely start with these since they are not in a binder yet.

So stay tuned, as you can tell, many more posts to come.

Introduction To The Hampton Cardboard Craze

Get ready for some fun! For the first time in my collecting career I am dead set on collecting ONE particular player. No, this player isn't a big time super star, but this is a player I respected and wanted to be growing up. Not to mention he plays for my favorite sport and on my favorite team, the New York Giants. It only made sense to start fully collecting him.

However, those are just a few of the reasons why I decided Rodney Hampton was the PC guy for me.

Here are the others:
  1. His cards are cheap (unlike Griffey who I PCd heavily for years not that I plan on giving up on him by any means). I don't usually have a lot of money to spend on the hobby and finding individual cards at $1 is in my price range
  2. There aren't a lot of autographs to chase.
  3. There are NO jersey cards to chase
  4. HUGE part of his cards are from the 90's, still the era I prefer collecting
  5. This isn't prospecting. I won't lose or win. I will just be set where I am and I am fine with that. The hobby is about having fun and not making money to me. This is fun.
  6. He played with the Giants his entire career and that won't ever change. Can't say that for a lot of guys
Now you are probably wondering what to expect on here. Well, plain and simple, I will be showcasing the cards that I have and add along the way. I will try to do this front and backside with one card at a time. I will either give a story on how I got the card, my thoughts on the card or if it's an insert some background on the card. Since most of these are from the 90's, he has roughly 15 cards from 99-on, collectors who grew up and enjoyed that era will love seeing these cards bringing back those early memories of collecting. And for those who didn't, get ready to be blown away and see what collecting used to be like before the over-flooded market of autographs and jersey cards. Not to mention, the amazing designs, schemes and shininess that will have you drooling.

I am not sure how often I will post on here but I don't expect it to be daily like Sport Card Collectors. That would be too overwhelming and force me to quit this blog and I don't want to do that.

So sit back and enjoy. Thanks for reading and please add me to your blog lists :)

PS: I also plan to post a link on my other blog, Sport Card Collectors , every time I post on here that way nobody loses out. But you can also sign up for posts by email and follow the blog :) Also I have a few Hampton card pickup posts scheduled to post on SCC too. Don't worry, I will go more in-depth with those on here too.
