1995 Excalibur

Collectors Edge put out some amazing products. Their base cards were always unique in design, texture and theme. The inserts were spectacular and fun to chase. And later on in the 90's they put out some nice looking autographs and memorabilia cards.

Today's post focuses on 1995 Excalibur. One of those many great products.

For the second year in a row, Collector's Edge issued the Excalibur brand. The 1995 150-card medieval-themed card set was released in two series. One was the Sword which covered cards 1-75 and Rodney Hampton who fell at card 51. The other series, the Stone,  covered cards 76-150. Only 1500, 12 box cases of each series were made. So it was limited a little.
One thing I like about this design is how the name and border don't take away from the action on the field. It showcases what Rodney did best when he got the hand off and it appears the Rams found that out the hard way on here.
The back of the card lacked some, but it covered all of his stats, has a player photo and team logo so in the end it worked.
How many of you collected Excalibur?
